One of the great food along Jalan Sulaman, Tuaran is Lokan Bakar (grilled fresh clams) and coconut pudding. There are more than a dozen of stalls here setup along the road. Just simply walk down the road, pick any stall that clicks to you and dine in as the truth is that nobody knows which stall offer the best coconut pudding or lokan bakar, though each stall did offer different taste of Lokan after trying from various random stalls (as I could not recall which stall I have dined in previously).
The Lokan is freshly harvested from the surrounding muddy area in Kampung Salut and Tuaran, assuring the freshness. As a matter of fact, the key winning factor contributes to the awesomeness of the Lokan is the variation of sauces. There are limes, dark soy sauce, sweet chili and spicy chili. Just dash a little bit of a single sauce or mix them up, and the end taste is just awesome!
You can order the Lokan based on its size, ranging from small, medium to large with different price tags. The picture above depicted a small size lokan which cost RM 10 for a plate. In fact, the Lokan did look big to me!
Usually the stall also offer coconuts in different variation for you to enjoy and cool down. There are Coconut Bakar, Coconut Pudding and Fresh Coconut. Coconut Pudding is cooling by having the pudding served inside a coconut with some refreshing coconut water, while Coconut Bakar is equally awesome as the coconut water will have a nice char smell due to the burning (I did not have coconut bakar during this trip).
Each coconut pudding sells for RM 5.
