An Inaugural
Vietnam Food Fair was hosted at The Shark Food Court in Jalan Burmah on 29 and 30 December 2018. This milestone event was organized by the Vietnamese community in Penang and northern region of Malaysia, offered some good insight and introduction to us Penangites on varieties of authentic Vietnamese food. More than a dozens of stalls were taking part in this event, offering a range of Vietnamese delicacies such as Vietnamese Rice Paper Salad,
Bánh Tráng Nướng (Vietnamese Pizza), Bánh mì, Xoi (Vietnamese Glutinous Rice), Pho, Vietnamese Sausages, Vietnamese Dumplings from North and South Vietname and many more.
Leading the team is Grave Vu, who is an owner of Pho Viet Vietnamese restaurant.

You can see there is an array of Vietnamese dishes being offered, and some are so alien to us. The creative usage of fish sauces, shrimp paste, soy sauce, herbs, lemongrass, Vietnamese mints, coriander, lime leave the food to have a distinctive taste. On top of that, they are healthy with minimal usage of oil but focuses more on usage of fresh ingredients, and features a lot of herbs and vegetables.
Besides, visitors to the Vietnam Food Fair at The Shark Food Court also get to buy some Vietnamese products such as coffee, crackers, biscuits, food ingredients, traditional apparels and etc.
