Hatyai New Year 2018 Countdown Party at Central Festival |
1) Chue Chang Temple
Upon early check-in at Wungnoy Hotel, we went to Chue Chang Temple, which is within walking distance for a visit. Chue Chang Temple is a relatively new temple and just finished the construction in the 21st century.
Address: 55 Supasarnrangsan Rd, Tambon Hat Yai, Amphoe Hat Yai, Chang Wat Songkhla 90110, Thailand
2) Hatyai Big Market
Hatyai Big Market is a gem for any shoppers. You can get good and affordable apparels, shoes, bags, kitchen utensils and any other household items you could think of. The opposite shops also offer goodies such as Chinese herbs, the famus koh-kae peanuts, Lays, Zebra kitchenware and etc.
3) Breakfast at Dim Sum Tonmoung
Dim Sum in Hatyai is cheaper and gave a total rebranding on the usual impression we had for Dim Sum. The amazing array of dim sum offered at Dim Sum Tonmoung is irresistible, and the price is affordable too. We loved the roasted pork here by the way.
Operation hours:6am - 2pm; 5-8.30pm
4) Shopping at Big C Extra
After enjoying a scrumptious breakfast at Dim Sum Tonmoung, we walked to Big C Extra which is just a stone's throw away from the restaurant. Shopping spree is continued here, you can buy dozens of Lays, Thai instant noodles or any food that catch your appetite.
5) Hatyai Wine Village
Wine Village is a relatively new attraction and Instagram spot in Hatyai. It has some British influenced architecture, a small aviary, a small goat farm and a restaurant. You can buy some milk or grass to feed the goats, and enjoy taking some Instagrammable pictures here.
Nevertheless, we do not find anything exceptional over here.
Address: 145 ถนนประชายินดี, หาดใหญ่, Songkhla 90110, Thailand
Operation hours: 4pm - 12pm
6) The Little Cottage
The cozy cafe / bistro is located near to Wine Village though expect about 500m walking distance. It offers a nice environment for a chilling evening while enjoying some drinks. Dinner choices are available too. Nevertheless, we only sample this hot & spicy Mango Salad as we are saving our stomach for the buffet later.
Operation: 5.30pm - 1am Daily
7) Asia Seafood Buffet
This is one of a greatest deal in Hatyai. By paying 388 Thai Baht only, you can enjoy unlimited access to a variety of seafood. Take them for Barbecue or Mookata style, or order some ala carte dishes as you like. Everything has been included in the 388 Thai Baht, what an ultimate deal!
Operation hours: 3 - 10 pm Daily
Telephone: +66 74 815 989
8) Hatyai Central Festival
Hatyai New Year 2018 Countdown Party at Central Festival |
After finishing the buffet at Asia Seafood, we hoped to Tuk Tuk to Hatyai Central Festival for a shopping spree. Apparently, there was a New Year countdown party here with big stage, featuring renowned DJ and it was exceptionally happening. We should have stayed here for the countdown party instead of heading to Lee Gardens, which was organized in a smaller scale.
9) New Year Countdown Party at Lee Gardens Plaza
Our final activity of the year was New Year countdown party at Lee Gardens Plaza. There was a stage with some Thai songs, and the event was officiated by the mayor of Songkhla province.
11) Breakfast at a coffee shop near to Wungnoy Hotel
Our breakfast next morning was settled at coffee shop nearby to Wungnoy Hotel. It was not an inspiring breakfast and not cheap too.
12) Kim Yong Market
Then we walked to Kim Yong Market, the famous local market has many goodies to offer. Get your favourite cashew nuts, local produces, potato chips and many more here. The market gets exceptionally happening in the morning
Address: Supasarnrangsan Rd, Tambon Hat Yai, Amphoe Hat Yai, Chang Wat Songkhla 90110, Thailand
13) Lunch at Ar restaurant
Then we sampled some authentic Thai food at Ar restaurant. The dishes were delicious and the restaurant was almost full house during our visit during lunch hour. The Thai Tomyam, Omelette and Tauhu are great choices. It is located not far to Lee Gardens Plaza.
Address: 105 Supasarnrangsan Rd, Tambon Hat Yai, Amphoe Hat Yai, Chang Wat Songkhla 90110, Thailand
Operation hours: 11am - 9pm
13) Odeon Shopping Mall
We were introduced to this delicious pork trotters rice at the food court at Odeon Shopping Mall. Apparently, many locals know this pork trotters rice and there was a long queue in this shop.
There is a local karaoke here, thus you can listen to some real classic songs while enjoying your food.
14) Stalls around Lee Gardens Plaza
Before we head back to Malaysia, we spent our remaining Thai Baht to purchase some snacks at stalls around Lee Garden Plaza. Do not miss out the delicious ice cream coconut or mango glutinous rice!
Hotel Wungnoy
Here are some pictures of Hotel Wungnoy. It was clean and spacious, and we thought it was real value of money.
Well, here sum up our short 2 days 1 night shopping & new year count down trip to Hatyai. If you realise, we did not visit many of the attraction here such as the floating market or mermaid statue as we have been there previously, and this trip is focused more on shopping.
