Although it sounds peculiar, this renowned Hokkien Mee stall in Simpang Ampat is located at the entrance of a Chinese Temple - Hong Leng Keong.
Previously, the stall used to sell near a neighbouring coffee shop but has moved to present location 14 years ago since the coffee shop ceased operation. Furthermore, the lack of parking space has catalyst the owner from shifting his Hokkien Mee stall here, and locals still come back regularly to look for the usual flavour that has been catering for their taste buds for 38 years.
The noodle is served piping hot, and soup is brimming with an amazing depth of flavour with a hint of sweetness from the prawn shell. It hits the essence of a quality bowl of Hokkien Mee and was a surprise find from us indeed from such an uninteresting location.
You can have a bowl of Hokkien Lor also, meaning usual hokkien mee soup mix with starchy gravy. Though our preference lies with the Hokkien Mee.
