A simple staple food, such as Potatoes from USA has become a delicacy after some magical works by the chef in Jazz Hotel. In conjunction with U.S. Fries Fiesta campaign in Penang and Ipoh from 17th June 2019 to 21st July 2019, Jazz Hotel is proudly presenting two U.S. Potatoes dishes - U.S. Fries Cheesy Croquette (RM 20) and U.S. Waffle Potato with Salmon Jerky (RM 28 nett)
This year, Jazz Hotel is one of the 20 outlets participating in U.S. Fries Fiesta campaign (15 outlets in Penang and 5 in Ipoh) - all serving up unique and tantalizing dishes using U.S. fries varieties. On top of treating yourself with different U.S. fries with great flavour, you can take part on a Facebook contest!
To join the contest, just order any U.S. Fries Fiesta dish from the participating outlets and post a creative caption and photos of the U.S. Potatoes dish with #MYPotatoesUSA and also "check in" to the participating outlet. Then you stand a chance to win dining vouchers on a weekly basis, and a grand prize of an iPad at the end of the contest!

The first dish - U.S. Fries Cheesy Croquette is a simple dish that uses U.S. Potato Lace, Egg, Parmesan Cheese, Salt & Pepper and Chopped Parsley. It offers a sleek taste of potato with a slight cheesy sensation, surrounded by the flavour profile arise from the egg.
To give it a more crunchy kick, the chef in Jazz Hotel introduces the croquette to be eaten along with an unique salsa, made from diced yellow and green zucchini, tomato and yellow onion. Top it with a tad of sour cream for a total refreshing flavour.

The another dish is a more rounded food that can has a variety of elements to go with the potatoes - U.S. Waffle Potato with Salmon Jerky. It uses U.S. Potatoes to form the base of the waffle, sandwiching minced salmon and crunchy vegetables, then topped with spicy mayonnaise and sour cream.
Personally, we felt the usage of potatoes as waffle base is creative, and it offers a lighter taste compared to traditional waffle dough which tend to be denser. It is more crunchy at the same time.
Well, why the emphasize on potatoes?
This is because potatoes is a good source of fibers, vitamins and minerals. It also contain up to 60 phytochemicals with antioxidant properties that help to protect cell from free radical damage and help to reduce cardiovascular disease, respiratory problems and certain cancers. The benefits is a long list but these are more than enough to convince you.
