Best Way to Tour Penang City - Hop-On Hop-Off Bus - Crisp of Life

Experience and feel Penang city from an unique viewpoint with live commentary by hopping onto Penang Hop-On Hop-Off Bus (HOHO)!

Despite being a Penangite and having HOHO bus introduced to the city since 2014, we never hop onto the bus and experience our hometown in such different way. For your information, HOHO bus is available on Friday to Sunday, Malaysia Public & School Holidays only (from 9am to 6pm, with an interval about 30 minutes). The bus took us into 11 designated stops (check the maps in this post) within the Georgetown UNESCO Heritage area, and we get to see Penang in the bus open deck.

Great thing is you only need to pay a flat rate (Malaysia: RM 22 - Adult, RM 12 - Child; Foreigners: RM 45 - Adult, RM 25 - Child) for a daily ticket, then you can hop onto the bus as many times you like within the day. For instance, if you stay in Eastern and Oriental Hotel, you can hop onto the bus there, then get down at stop 03 to have a walk around the UNESCO Heritage area and street arts. After that, you may hop onto the bus and get into 02 - Chowrasta Market to buy some souvenirs. Just plan the way you enjoy it.

A separate feeder bus is available at 05 - Chowrasta Market stop that takes you directly to popular tourist destination - Penang Hill & Kek Lok Si Temple. It departs from Chowrasta Market at 10am, 12pm and 2pm, then depart from Penang Hill from 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 5pm. There is no need to pay additional fees for this bus.

The bus is air-conditioned so there shall be no worries on sweating a lot. On top of that, there are maps provided on complimentary basis in the bus, and the English speaking guide is friendly to provide any assistance you may have.

Just head to the designated 11 station and hop onto the bus when it arrives. You can purchase the tickets from the guide in the bus.
