Elegant High Tea Set in Dreamy Garden Setting @ Averie Hous, Penang

Imagine a greenhouse surrounded by greens and trees, with an arch embellished with vibrant flowers for you to enjoy your high tea. We thought such utopia dining place exists in wedding settings only but apparently we can enjoy these settings on weekends and Friday, provided you manage to secure the reservation. This place is Averie Hous and located at Lebuhraya Rose, near to Penang Chinese Girls High School. Passer-by would not realise this 22,000 square feet bungalow houses a cafe offering high tea, as the facade of Averie Hous proposes this is just another elites' bungalow. It may be a daunting task to secure a reservation, as Averie Hous offers only limited high tea set per day, and best if you can secure the reservation one week ahead (though officially is 2 days ahead).

The High Tea Set Menu offered by Averie House is actually a partnership between the cafe and Gen, the fine dining restaurant in Lebuh Presgrave. Bearing a premium price tag at RM 130 per set, the high tea set revolves around peculiar items that you least expect will appear in 3-tier high tea set, yet the taste was miraculously appeasing. Ditch your thought of having fruit tarts, chocolate macaron, dainty desserts or sandwiches, and expect a playful tickle to your taste buds using local flavour infused desserts such as Durian puff, Cempedak macaron, Nutmeg mouse cake and etc.

Manipulation of local flavour into all desserts and emphasizing of local ingredients are commendable in this high tea set. On top of that, we enjoyed the high tea set in a way that it offers balancing of flavour between sweet and savoury that well complemented each others. For instance, Nutmeg mousse cake's mild sweetness will be tuned down when we are savouring the unique chicken curry burger that offers a slight tingling to the taste buds.
