Enoshima Japanese Restaurant @ Cititel Express, Penang

Enoshima Japanese Restaurant is one of the hidden Japanese located within Cititel Express Hotel. Though existing for years, the restaurant remains low profile and we believe not many are aware of its existence. Although the settings and its location may give you an impression of expensive or premium food, truth is Enoshima offers a rather budget-friendly Japanese food, to the extent even lower than some of the Japanese restaurants in the town. For instance, a bowl of Ramen would have cost around RM20++, and you can get the Bento set for around RM 40++.

The Bento Set is a good deal here. We had the Salmon Teri Sushi Set (RM 42++) and it comes with a piece of rather large Teriyaki Salmon, 7 pieces of sushi, cawan-mushi, Japanese salad and Miso Soup. Teriyaki Salmon was relatively larger in size, and the taste was alright. It was slightly overcooked, rendering a stiffer texture. On the other hand, the sushi was moderate in taste and bears no surprise elements nor exciting moments. Given the price, the bento set was a real good bargain.

Ishiyaki Cheese Katsu Curry (RM 26) is a decent choice for our dinner. It has nice curry that coupled well with cheese to give an overall aromatic profile to the deep fried chicken fillet and rice.

The small snack we had for the night - Kani Cream Korokke (RM 14) was good. The croquette was deep-fried to perfection, possessing a crisp exterior with piping hot crab & cream filling. Be careful when savouring the snack by eating in small bites, as the high temperature filling may cause a burn to your tongue.

Overall, Enoshima Japanese Restaurant is a decent place to enjoy some Japanese cuisine should you crave for it, and the price is rather reasonable without denting your wallet too much. The restaurant also offers a range of Japanese alcohol drinks should you wish to enjoy any.
