When people come to Bukit Tambun Penang for a gratifying seafood dinner, they fall into a conundrum on which restaurant to pick due to presence of dozens of seafood restaurants here. This times, we ventured into How Kee Seafood Village (豪记海鲜村), located not far from the Tambun toll. The restaurant is huge with the capacity that cater up to about 30-40 tables at a time, and the food here is served in huge portion without denting your wallet much. On top of that, the seafood here is fresh and pretty much enjoyable in terms of taste. One downside is the lighting here is too dimmed and make you feel like leaving here fast after eating.
Steamed Emperor Red Snapper in Nyonya Style |
Sizzling tofu |
Stir Fried Royal Chives & Bean Sprouts |
We struggled to finish all the dishes with just 2 of us as the portion of each dishes are too big.
Imagine there were easily 20 pieces of Japanese Tofu and the Stir Fried Royal Chives & Bean Sprouts can cater up to 5 people in our opinion. Nevertheless, they are affordably priced at RM 12 each which come to our surprise. Sizzling tofu is nice in taste, and the minced meat within the sizzling plate contributed a pleasant aroma. Meanwhile, we hoped for a stronger oyster sauce and sesame taste in the stir fried royal chives & bean sprout.
Steamed Emperor Red Snapper in Nyonya Style is priced at RM 45, which we thought was pretty reasonable. The Red snapper is fish, and Nyonya style cooking gives the fish a moderate sour and spicy taste, akin to a toned down Thai flavour. There are other steaming style offered, such as clear style and Teochew style.
Savouring the fish for our dinner was a true gratification.
