Nothing is more exciting than a Seafood Buffet spread featuring all kind of fresh marine catches serves in various ways, ranging from sashimi, sushi, Western, Oriental, Malay and even local style.
This is happening every Saturday at Sri Tanjung Cafe, Royale Chulan Penang. The Saturday Buffet Dinner is priced at RM 98 nett per adult and RM 50 net for senior & child, which is a really competitive and worth-the-value price that you hardly get elsewhere.

The moment when we stepped in Sri Tanjung Cafe, we were impressed with the array of line up of the action stalls. There were Stir Fry Chili Crab, Soft Crab Tempura, Grilled Baby Stingray Fish, Oyster Omelette, and even you can order a pot of dedicated fish head claypot which is best enjoy with white rice!
On top of that, local flavours such as chicken and beef satay are served too.
Fresh marine catches such a oysters, steamed New Zealand Mussels are available at another corner for those who dares to take up the challenges for raw seafood. Otherwise, enjoy some steamed crayfish (mini lobsters), boiled spanner crabs or cooked red prawns instead.

The hot dishes counter features strong seafood influenced dishes with the star of the night go to Lobster Thermidor. Other dishes served there including Wok Fried Prawns with Spicy Dried Scallop Sauce, Grilled Seabass with Orange Beurre Blanc, Seafood Paella, Clams with Sambuca Butter Cream Sauce, Flower Crab Alfredo with Fusilli Pasta, Cilantro Lime Shrimp Bouillabaisse, Scallops Mornay, Seafood Paella and etc.
We thought the hotels chef did an amazing work with their appetizer and salad presentation. Conventionally, hotel buffet will have their dishes served in tray without much attention on presentation but look at the appetizers here. It almost a step closer to fine dine presentation!
There were smoked butter fish, assorted fresh green salad bar, Thai seafood salad, Prawns with Mango Salsa and Curry Vinaigrette, Calamari with olives and basil pesto, marianted seared tuna and penne pasta.
The hotel also had their seafood presented in Japanese cuisine style in Sushi and Maki format.
Last but not least, enjoy the array of desserts here! Remember to get the Mango Sticky Rice as it is really a hot item here!
