With more than 80 outlets across Malaysia and still expanding strong, Mykori Dessert Cafe surely has little secret that manage to whet the appetite of many, including us.
Good and sad news for Penangites, as Mykori currently only has 2 outlets in Penang, one each in Penang island (D'Piazza Mall) and mainland (Seberang Jaya) respectively. Do expect a huge crowd and difficulty to get a seat as Mykori still very popular among locals. We were fortunate to get a seat during our visit on Sunday afternoon.
Thanks to Mykori Penang D'Piazza Mall for hosting
Many come to Mykori to enjoy the signature Kakigori, which are shaved ice desserts incorporating fresh fruits, ice cream as well as layers of flavour. Kakigori is the item that attracted us too.
You must be wondering where are the fruits when you get your Kakigori. Fret not, as soon as you dig into the center of shaved ice, all the fruits are concealed within!
The Kakigori are mainly categorized into 2 types - sweet (milk) and sour (yoghurt) base. Ask the crew for recommendation depending on your preference.
Chocolate Banofee Kakigori is one of the popular item, yet sinful at the same time. It features a combination of dark chocolate flavoured ice, Oreos, Brownies, Caramel, Banana and Chocolate. It is sweet yet not overwhelming.
On the other hand, Pink Kiss Kakigori is a milk based dessert that offers a pleasant tartness. It is made of bandung ice, brownies, raspberries, creme chantilly with a light sweetness from chocolate sauce. At the first sip, it tasted dull but as soon as the milk scent built up in our palate, we started to enjoy it.
Another healthy option will be Honeydew Kakigori (RM 26), featuring big chunk of fresh honeydew melons with silky smooth melon milk. As we dug inside the shaved ice, nata de coco weer unveiled and it paired well with the tasty almond flakes! Another of our favourite too.
Aside of shaved ice, we also sampled their Chocolate Banana Toast (RM 19). The toast with crisp edge is served along with generous slice of bananas, much appeasing to our taste buds. Careful though, as you will feel full if you have a plan to finish the toast on your own. Save some stomach space for the signature Kakigori.
The Chicken Slice & Cheese Taiyaki (RM 7) is another addictive snack that we do not mind having one piece after another!
Mykori Dessert House is having a range of promotion in the month of March 2020, check it out!
