If you are a dim sum fan in Penang, check out Daily Fish PG 天天鱼大酒楼 for their dim sum selections. Even better news if you are not morning person like us as the dim sum is offered daily from 8am till 2pm. Although the price may be higher and less varieties (around 30) compared to traditional dim sum houses, but the taste is worthy the price in our opinion. Daily Fish PG practise modern way of ordering (pick from menu) instead of having the traditional dim sum push carts around the restaurants.
Therefore, there may be a gap between time of ordering and serving time, which led us to believe some of the dim sum are properly reheated prior serving to ensure we savour it at the best condition. We had some usual dim sum favourites such as prawn dumplings, siew mai and char siew pao and these did not disappoint. While egg tarts here are one of the hot selling item, we find the custard lacks the desired taste even though the crust is flaky and excellent.
One of the best item we had during our brunch was the shrimp rolls. The chef did excellent on the crispy skin wrapping the fresh prawns. Salted egg lava buns were good in taste too.
Overall it was quite a satisfactory dim sum meal here. On top of that, the air conditioned environment also made the dining experience here pleasurable, especially for people coming with small childreen like us.
