One of the popular local coffee - OO White Coffee has established a full-fledged cafe offering a variety of hawker fares in Waterfall Hotel Penang. This is their third establishment, after the origin store in Lebuh Carnavon and branch in Queensbay Mall. On top of OO White Coffee signature coffee and toasts, the branch at Waterfall hotel also serves Penang delight such as wantan mee, hokkien mee, oyster omelette, nasi lemak, char koay teow and other varieties. The price point of the food in OO White Coffee is higher compared to those in conventional hawker settings but you get compensated with air-conditioned settings. Parking may be a challenge here during peak hours.
OO White Coffee branch in Lebuh Carnavon used to be famous with their fried oyster omelette, thus we were excited to see oyster omelette on the menu and decided to order it to try. Over here, you can choose to have your oyster omelette in the fried crispy style or the gooey style.
Though the fried crispy oyster omelette (RM 12) here resembles the one in Lebuh Carnavon, we still feel it lacked the arousing crispy taste. Douse it with some of the chili sauce provided for an overall better enjoyment.
If you have a craving for signature Penang dish, then Hokkien Mee (RM 8.50) here come to rescue. The Nasi Lemak here on the other hand, lacks the aromatic factor especially in their rice. You can order fried chicken, curry chicken, asam fish or black sauce chicken to go with the nasi lemak.
A surprise finding here is they serve the prawn crackers with Asam Soup (RM 5.90) which is uncommon in Penang island. Usually, these prawn crackers can only be found in laksa served in Kulim, Nibong Tebal or Parit Buntar. Having these crunchy snacks in the meal here is an enjoyment, though luxury.
OO White Coffee also serves a variety of coffee and toasts. The toast on egg (RM 6.50) is a beauty to look at but the taste was mediocre. Perhaps lacking of some char scent on the toast.
