What happens when employees are retrenched by the organisation? Most like they have to be their own to get a new job but that is not the case in the establishment of W Kitchen in Penang. When the pandemic Covid-19 struck and caused one of the hotel in Penang to cease operation, the general manager of the hotel established W Kitchen and regroup his former employees there, leading them a way to sustain the hardship after loss the job.
Since the team has bequeathed the hotel's chef uniform in the establishment of W Kitchen, they focus on food delivery business, offering quality food in affordable price ranging from RM 10 - RM 15 per set with a rotational menu daily. Having tried their food for the second times, we would say the food is inspiring, flavourful, and is more valued than its price.
The Tuesday's menu we were having were Thai inspire dishes, namely Paprika Chicken Stew Rice Set (RM 10), Prawn Chu-Chi Rice Set (RM 13) and an add-on of Tom Yam Goong (RM 5).

Prawn Chu-Chi Rice Set |
Both the rice set is served with papaya kerabu and fried egg. Flavour wise, the papaya salad is nicely seasoned with a tad of tanginess to cheer up the appetite, and the paprika chicken stew is cooked just on the mark to maintain the texture.
Tom Yam Goong |
The star of the lunch ought to go to the Prawn Chu Chi. It is brimming with a dept of complex yet nice flavour, consisting of rich aroma and creaminess of coconut milk and a mild spicy curry flavour. I could not resist to have more of it sauce to be drench over the white rice.
Meanwhile, Tom Yam Goong is more of a milder version of Thai Tomyam which probably could cater for a more general population's preference.
On that day itself we were privileged to have Balik Pulau homemade nutmeg juice to quench the thirst.
