Tepi Laut Makan Street Buffet Dinner @ Shangri-La Rasa Ria, Sabah

We have used to the buffet dining where counters are clustered by salad, soup, main dishes, desserts and etc but Tepi Laut Makan Street Buffet Dinner at Shangri-La Rasa Ria, Sabah offers a slight different experience. The buffet dinner is happening every Saturday and Sunday and the scene there gets exceptionally happening. 

All the stalls in Makan Street during the buffet are action oriented, with chef occupied in preparing ingredients, baking pizza, frying noodles, grilling satay, slicing sashimi or others. You can head to different counters to order different culinary genre, such as Indian stalls that offer masala chicken and curry biryani, or local Sabah counter that offers their signature Tuaran Mee. On top of that, you can enjoy the breeze while dining at Tepi Laut, as it is located by the beach as its Malay restaurant name suggests. Currently, the buffet is priced at RM 148 nett per adult and RM 65 nett per children.

Looking at the array of ingredients and food selections displayed at counter made us drooled. Another factor that we appreciate over in the Tepi Laut Buffet Dinner is majority of the food is prepared on the spot, then served hot to us. 

Take an example of the signature Tuaran noodles, where we get to select our preferred ingredients, to the extent we get to choose to have it with egg or not for the plate of noodles. The end product Tuaran Noodles is definitely top notch in taste and we enjoyed it much.

Then we can see non stop actions at the other stalls such as pizza station, wok fry station, satay station and wok fry station. There was even pizza dough rolling and we saw the chef put the rolled dough to the traditional pizza for baking. 

There are other conventional buffet food available in Tepi Laut, such as Japanese sushi, sashimi, seafood on ice and dessert. You can be assured of the freshness of the seafood here, and the prawns here are relatively larger in size as you may see in the picture.

Dessert selection may not be that extensive but it is negligible as there were so many other nice dishes to choose from. 

During normal hours, you may order dishes from their a la carte menu.
