One of the most talked pastry shop in Ipoh ought to be Être Patisserie. We have came across comments they serve really good French pastries and cakes in an elegant and modern cafe. Être Patisserie's website shows that the founder has a strong background in French cuisine and even worked for Michelin starred restaurants in Paris.
In my humble opinion, Être Patisserie lived up to the the expectations on good French influenced pastries. The cafe's interior design on the other hand is more to modern and minimalism design, catering for the needs of nicely curated Instagram feeds in these modern era.
We came to Être Patisserie in late afternoon and were left with not many choices on the desserts. One of the thing that caught our attention were the chocolate cake named Guanaja (RM 20). Though it was premiumly priced at RM 20 but the cake was textbook.
It was brimming with richness of chocolate and not overwhelmingly sweet. As first I thought Guanaja is the name of the cake, but later Google tells me it is a famed dark chocolate from France. No wonder it tasted so great.
The Butter Crossaints though is premiuly priced at RM 8.90 but it tasted good. Crisp on the outer layer while fluffy and airy in the center.
Drinks here were nice too. We had a Mocha (RM 11) and a Cold Cacao (RM 14). Our daugther almost finished half cup of the chocolate.
Overall it was a nice dining experience at Être Patisserie despite majority of the items here bear a premium price tag. There were some comments online mentioning the service was subpar and not kids friendly but we experienced none of it during our visit.
