Red Mountain Sun Yin Loong White Coffee 新源隆白咖啡怡宝 @ Ipoh, Perak

The cafe Red Mountain Sun Yin Loong White Coffee (新源隆白咖啡) is located at the outskirt of Ipoh near to Menglembu that offers an unique dining experience. First and foremost, Sun Yin Loong is located out of nowhere in an industrial zone. Then, the cafe uses all wooden furniture (even the baby's chair is the classic heavy wooden chair) and offered a different vibes. That perhaps justified its popularity and an immense crowd despite its rather remote location. Nevertheless, we found the food was average and a visit here is more for the ambiance instead of gastronomy experience. 

Red Mountain Sun Yin Loong White Coffee did feature a very impressive menu with dishes that come with bombastic names. For instance, the curry mee was named Cloud on Fire and the clear soup noodle was named Floating Cloud. 

We tried both of these glamorous dishes and only the names impressed us. The Cloud On Fire may come with a generous variety of ingredients such as prawns, fish cakes, long beans, tofu puffs and 1/2 soft boiled eggs but the taste was average. A tad spicier and more coconut milk scent would have made it better.

On the other hand, we preferred the Floating Cloud over the Cloud on Fire. The clear soup was flavourful and sleek in taste. It would be something I would glad to have in the morning as breakfast to kick start of the day.

We also tried Yin Yang Toast Bread (Kaya + Butter) and the filling was normal. Then the Paper Wrapped Chicken Wing was lacking of depth of flavour despite it claimed to have been marinated with honey and various flavourful spices. Nevertheless, they did a wonderful job with the chicken wings colour though. 

The chicken wing is priced at RM 4 per piece but the meat was scarce, which we felt is slightly steep in terms of pricing. 

The drinks we had such as coffee and chocolate were normal too. 

Overall, Sun Yin Loong is more like a place to come and enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance instead of the food. The outdoor seating could be hot and humid, and the indoor seating is limited too.
