The fame of Cendol Air Putih in Kuantan has apreaded to my knowledge at least 10 years ago when I was working in Kuala Lumpur. However, I never got the opportunity to try it as we never manage to step foot in Kuantan since moved back to Penang.
Unlike conventional cendol that operates in a small stall, Cendol Air Putih occupies a corner shoplot near to Beserah / Air Putih in Kuantan. They have an efficient queue system where you will be assigned numbers upon placing your numbers, and you will need to pick up your food later when your number is being called electronically. The shop offers a variety of cendol, such as Cendol Biasa, Cendol Pulut, Cendol Campur and a more exotic type - Cendol Durian. Ais Kacang, Nasi Lemak and other kuih are available too.
We tried the Cendol Pulut Campur (RM 4.30) and it was good. The sweetness was right on point and well balanced, and probably a hint of nice scent could be attributed to the usage of either palm sugar or brown sugar. Cendol is sleeky smooth, and I always like to enjoy the cendol with pulut (glutinous rice) as it absorbs the essence, creating a rich, creamy yet soft glutinous rice.
Meanwhile, the Ais Kacang is nothing special and should skip it and limit your calories intake for the cendol solely.
