Staycation has become part of our planned activities since we became parents. As the elder kid has grown older, we decided to let her explore Georgetown city, a vibrant place filled with rich culture, landmarks and hundreds of commoners' delicious cuisine.
Coincidently, a new hotel managed by Ascott has open right in the centre of Georgetown Penang - Citadines Connect Georgetown Penang. Its close proximity to many Georgetown attractions made here an idea place for staycation for everyone planning to discover Georgetown by foots.
Check out this article on how we spend 2 days 1 night in Citadines Connect Georgetown Penang and explore its surroundings!
3pm: Checking in
Checking in the hotel was a seamless process. The hotel's crews from the bellboy, front desk and manager on duty were friendly and efficient.

Studio Classic Room
Citadines Connect Georgetown offers 5 different type sof room, namely Studio Twin, Studio Executive, Studio Executive Twins, Studio Classic and Two-Bedroom Executive and this times we had the bookign at Studio Classic, which comes with a attached kitchenette.
Having a kitchnette is an additional advantage. If the kid ever feels hungry anytime, I can go to the neighbouring convenient store and prepare some hot food for her. On top of that, 1st Avenue Mall is within walking distance from the hotel and the mall hosts Village Grocer, a premium grocery store that sells a variety of fresh produces. I can purchase egg and prepare toast in the room, or churn out a bowl of muesli.
Studio Classic room also boasts of having 31 square metre and can fit a baby cot, which is provided complimentary by the hotel upon request.
3.15pm - Late Lunch at Cilantro
Sharing the same vicinity with Citadines Connect Georgetown Hotel is Noordin One, a shoplot that houses several cafe and shop. We took advantage of it and have our late lunch at one of the modest cafe here - Cilantro.
Cilantor serves simple and iconic Malaysian dishes such as Nasi Lemak, Hainan Chicken Chop and classic Malaysia Teh Tarik without causing a dent to your wallet.
4:15pm - Snack at Gama Corner Ali Bubur
There is a hawker centre located diagnoally across the hotel and they are famed for various food such as Bubur Gandum and fried rice among the locals. Ali Bubur is a hidden gem and it is usually sold out everyday, so do drop by there and grab a bowl of nice mung bean porridge here.
4.45pm - Dessert time at Inside Scoop
As we walked to Cilantro for lunch, our girl spotted Inside Scoop sharing the same row with Cilanto in Noordin One and she could recognise this is her favourite ice cream shop. She requested us to get her ice cream after lunch, which we duly obliged too as we love the ice cream here!
5.00pm - Me time in hotel lounge
There is a dedicated lounge area in the hotel lobby which is operated on 24/7 basis, and you can help yourself to get a cup of coffee and some tidbits. As both the kids are taking a nap, I had a short "me time" in the lounge, sipping a cup of coffee at the corner of the lounge and unwind myself.
We actually take turn to enjoy the spot as the elder daugther would love to check out the lovely lounge space too.
The lounge is a great spot for reading too.
7.00pm - Dinner at Kyrin Sushi
