I always argued that in Food and Beverages business, not many can do GFC (not KFC). GFC is the abbreviation for Good, Fast and Cheap. However, recently I do come across a cafe that hits all the three attributes by serving good, fast and cheap food, and the cafe name is Cafe @ the CORNER in One-Square Commercial Centre in Bayan Baru. It is located rather secluded in the commercial area but should not be hard to find it.
The newly minted cafe derived its name from the location. It occupies the most corner unit of the commercial lot and its presence could be sighted afar by recognising its signature colorful stacked magic cube tower. Apart from that, the cafe also offers various corners in the premise, such as single corners for lone visitors who prefer minimal disturbance, a secret corner at the back of cafe and a gathering corner.
On top of that, the cafe also offers drive through corner at the front of entrance, where parking it not necessary when one is in a hurry. One can even pre-order in advance and just drive through the pick up your breakfast of tea break. Interestingly, the cafe opens from 8am - 8pm so it serves as a nice place to drop by for early breakfast before one head sto work.
RM 5 for a cup of chocolate and a packet of nasi lemak |
Cafe @ the CORNER serves mainly pastries, snacks and drinks, but they also offer an affordable package of RM 5 which consists of a packet of Nasi Lemak and a cup of americano or chocolate. Alternatively, there are lunch set at RM 7.90 which comes with Char Koay Teow or Fried Bee Hun and a cup of tea. For me, the breakfast part is the interesting as one can just drive through and pack away the food.
It is notable that the barista here brew all the coffees here with a double shot so you can really feel the beat from the drinks! On top of that, we thought the croissants and pastries here are nicely baked. The nasi lemak is spicy, but I just love the heat from the sambal.
