Thai cuisine is probably one of the most well known cuisine around the globe. Its clever usage of herbs and spices that intrigues one of the deepest part of your palate, and people regardless of geographical region has high acceptance and praise toward Thai cuisine.
Many of Thai street food even has gained international accolades, such as Jay Fai's Michelin starred crab meat omelette. Wonderful news for you as a Thai food lover as today the Thai chefs in Blue Chang restaurant in Penang has replicated this renowned dish, thus you can enjoy this flavourful dish without travelling to Bangkok. Blue Chang restaurant has even created a series of new menu, primarily focus on crab inspired dishes to cater for your taste buds.
The crab meat omelette is avaialble in BC's Signature JUMBO Crabmeat Platter. Though it bears a premium price tag of RM 188 but it comes with a generous quantity of crab meat. The siganture is JayFai's Crabmeat Omelette, and the platter also has signature crabmeat fried rice that topped with crab claw meat, and crab meat spring rolls. Best share the dish with 3-4 people as there were simply too much crabs for a person.
Probably above picture does not do the justification of the price tag but rest assured once you dig into the omelette, you can only see crab meats after another crab meats!
Perhaps you are coming in a small group of 2 person and just wish to enjoy simple crab meat dish, then this is a great deal for you - HereHai's Insane Jumbo Crabmeat Rice Bowl for only RM 25 per bowl. You can choose to have the version of HereHai Signature Omelette, Chilli Thai Basil or Creamy Egg Curry. One thing never change though is that each of the ricebowl is topped with a generous quantity of crabmeat.
My personal preference goes to HereHai Signature Omelette, as the silky smooth omelette and the aroma arises from the egg complemented the succulent crabmeat well.

If you still feel like getting more crab meat inspired dishes, then you can have this Super Premium Crab Roll (RM 78). Basically, it is crispy skin with entire crab meat fillings, which is beyond satisfactory for any crab meat lovers.
I enjoyed the contrasting texture of the crispy skin and the succulent crab meat. Most importantly, the skin offers a slight briny sensation that further elevates the crab meat taste.
A relative tuned down crab dish meat compared to the crab rolls will be Crab & Prawn Spring Roll, which comes with a modest price at RM 28.
Blue Chang also offers other new seafood inspired dishes such as Thai Style Steamed Scallops with Vermicelli and Chef's Seafood Sauce (RM 38), Fried River Prawns with Chili and Garlic (RM 48) and Grilled Giant River Prawn (RM 48).
Be wary of the strong hotness from the Thai chilli on the scallops. For those who cannot take spicy food you may feel an immense of hot flavour bursting in your easophagus. However I enjoyed the taste much, as it offers complexity of hotness along with nice tangy sensation that enhance my appetite for later dishes.
If you are a fan of Thai pork trotters, do come over Blue Chang and order this limited serving of 5 dishes per day of Phed Mak Pork Trotters with Thai Basil (RM 32). It is gelatinous, and the chili and Thai basil did well to give the trotters some depth of flavour.
And have you ever thought of having this sinful crispy and aromatic deep fried Hatyati style chicken everytime? Well, it is too hard to resist the temptation of this dish, and Blue Chang has brought this dish alive in the restaurant!
Just look at the crispy shallots topping the aromatic deep fried chickens and you are surely to beat your calories and fat intake of the day with this Hatyat Style Fried Chicken Platter.
The restaurant also introduced Stir Fried Melinjo Leaves with Egg (RM 22).
And never leave any Thai restaurant without any Tomyam, let it be red or clear Tomyam soup!
