Four Beans, this popular taufufah brand from Johor has came to Penang with their first outlet at Jalan Krian and probably setting a new benchmark for taufufah and revolutionizing the way we savor this local's comfort dessert. Despite their anticipated debut that happened months ago, , the queue at their Jalan Krian shop continues to stretch well in the evening hours during the time of our visit. Guests are encouraged to secure a queue number in order to get their turns to order and proceeding to their designated table.
The shop may seem squishy via the entrance, narrow pathway leading to ordering counter but there are ample of dining spaces awaits on the second level that spanning two shoplots. Menu predominantly revolves around taufufah creations, complemented by options for shaved ice and soy drinks. Although mains are not offered, there is a selection of snack that are good for sharing amongst friends and family.
As first timer visitors, we decided to indulge in their best seller, the Signature Soy Beancurd that topped with abundant condiments like peach gum, snow nest, mixed taro balls, taro potato balls, pearl and grass jelly. The beancurd can be customized to suit individual preferences, available in either original or pandan flavour. Taufufah was a delight for the palate with its exceptional silkiness and light in taste. for those seeking to fully appreciate the purity of the taufufah itself, get their basic Soy Beancurd in box too, allowing you to truly savour the essence of the beancurd in its simple form.
For a change of palates, we adventured through their shaved ice menu for Black Sesame Shaved Ice which come with black sesame taro ball, mini taro balls and red beans to compliment with exciting textures. The ice is smooth, the taro balls offer a satisfying chewiness and the red beans provide a delightful sweetness. Yet, its undoubtedly for us that the taurfafah beckon us back for more.
