Penang International Food Festival, or known as PIFF took place at Design Village Outlet Mall on November 9 and 10, marking a unique twist for this year’s festival with events held in two locations—first in Tanjung and now in Batu Kawan. This special arrangement allows more people to enjoy Penang’s culinary delights, bringing the celebration of local flavors to a wider audience.
With over 100 food stalls set up around Design Village Mall, visitors were treated to a rich variety of foods, including local hawker favorites, street vendors, restaurant specialties, food trucks, homemade goodies, and even artisanal alcohols.
Notable highlights included Penang Road Laksa, a Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded dish, and Duck Egg Char Koay Teow, both drawing long queues of eager patrons. Satay, grilled lamb, and other delicacies added to the vibrant atmosphere, showcasing the best of Penang's renowned cuisine.
Makeshift tables and chairs were setup along the festival, allowing patrons to PIFF can enjoy the food just like how the true Penangites enjoy the local street food. A more relaxed environemnt is setup inside Design Village with camping tables and chairs, allowing patrons to snack while enjoying live band performance.
The festival’s opening ceremony was graced by YB Wong Hon Wai, Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, and joined by the Bukit Tambun state assemblyman, YB Goh Choon Aik, along with PE Land Penang Sdn Bhd’s COO, Mr. Andy Song, a representative of Seberang Perai City Council’s mayor, and Mr. Jack Wong of TLM Event.
